NEW 3 track e.p. soon to be featured on our Saturday afternoon show with the amazing Matt Levy and his #thesaturdaytakeover on the one and only www.corefmradio.com/
JERRY DALE HARRIS.
With music being kept simplistic and to a bare minimum, and synthesised effects being the order of the day, this more vocally inspired E.P, certainly took me by surprise. Jerry has a very soulful sound that he projects beautifully, and this style works well with the multi genre feel to this well-crafted E.P.. The silky edged dulcet tones created by Jerry make every song a pleasure to listen to taking every listener far away from the world today into the creative flow that lives within his soul.
Jerry has a whole host of musical influences he draws from with Uriah Heep and Kiss being the most poignant personally, as they both dared him to dream big since the tender age of five, with Kiss teaching him to have fun and Uriah Heep on how to live a story. But as his musical progression developed, Jerry focused on the styles of classics such as Johnny Cash & Charlie Daniels. Classic Rock acts Boston, Journey, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles; Music Legends Elvis, Bob Marley and Michael Jackson; 80's acts Phil Collins, Duran Duran, The Outfield and The Cars; Punk acts Misfits, Sex Pistols, Offspring, Suicidal Tendencies and The Ramones; Metal bands Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax and Testament; 80's Glam Metal acts Great White, Whitesnake, Cinderella, Tesla and Van Halen.
More recent influences include Ed Sheeran, Damien Rice, The Civil Wars, Delta Rae, Snow Patrol, Radiohead, Muse and The Script.
Jerry Dale Harris was born and raised Rockford Illinois, near Chicago. He also lived in Tampa Florida for 4 years (1990-1994) while serving active duty in the United States Air Force. He started writing lyrics and playing bass in the late 80's while in high school but didn't go public until 2011.
Jerry has a very impressive collection of stage performances with some very well-known and influential artists, and has played at The Dragonfly in Hollywood with Dan Spitz from Anthrax and Michaela Paige from The Voice- USA. Regionally he has played with Jeff Young & Sherri featuring Jeff Young of Megadeth, Hugo Ferreira from Tantric, Jack Russell of Great White, Cheap Thrill featuring members of Cinderella, Collective Soul and Gibbs Brothers, Dilana from Rockstar Supernova, The Last Vegas, The Adam Ezra Group, Mason Reed, Shallow Side, Another Lost Year, Drugs Delaney, Bryan W. and regional KISS tribute act Dr. Love!
So far in his career he has played in Los Angeles California, Cheltenham England, Louisville Kentucky, and all over Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
Alex Kane, who produced Richie Ramone, Antiproduct and Life Sex & Death is producing his new album entitled "Modus Operandi" due to be released early 2016.
The album features Michael Bradford from Venrez and Mike Dupke from W.A.S.P. He has also recorded with Andy Andersson of Fuel/Black Robot, Marty O’Brien, bassist of Lita Ford, We Are The Fallen, Kelly Clarkston, Geoffrey Jenkins of Speedgod, Gwen Stacy and Italian bass virtuoso Alberto Rigoni
In a recent interview Jerry told me; “I write and record many genres of music that you can find on the internet. I have hopes that they will be picked up for use in film soundtracks. I have recorded in many different genres over the years, which include Acoustic Rock, Hard Rock, Rock, Experimental Rock, Electronic and Industrial music”. He goes on to add; “I'm an acoustic singer/songwriter with a rock edge. My soul lives and thrives there”.
His NEW E.P. “Experior” is a voyage of experimentation along with the depth of thought that’s ever present within his songwriting, and most certainly gives you a different angle to not only his music, but music production itself.
My Score …… 7/10
My Suggestion …. If ever there were two tracks to tempt the listener into buying this album, they would be “Hollow” and “We can have it all”.
